Leigh Peake

Leigh Peake is Chief Education Officer at Gulf of Maine Research Institute where she oversees the iteration and implementation of a robust suite of informal and formal learning experiences for middle-school students as well as professional learning for educators. Leigh came to GMRI a seasoned educational publishing executive and entrepreneur with experience in both nonprofit and for-profit contexts. GMRI delivers best-in-class science regarding climate impacts across the Gulf of Maine watershed and the 15-person education team offers authentic, developmentally appropriate engagements with that science. Currently, GMRI is partnering with schools statewide as well as Maine 4H, the Maine State Library, and a network of other informal institutions to develop a network of connected learning ecosystems supporting climate learning in rural, Indigenous, and immigrant/refugee communities across Maine.
