Rumble – Exploring Native identity, culture and history with 6th-12th grade classrooms through music, film and media.

July 12, 2021 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm UTC+0

In this session, participants will be able to walk between various presentations from six schools in Northern New Mexico which will share their year long civic media projects addressing community issues i.e. homelessness, bullying, suicide, recycling, water polution and indigenous culture. Students explored how to use media forms to address issues in their community applying the six stages of the Media Production Hive Model. This media initiative offers a fresh look at civic engagement as a connected learning experience with K-12 public and charter and Native American schools including students with diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. The panel will explore the variety of media forms and impacts by allowing participants to go between the six students’ tables and engage in a dialogue with them on their experience and process.
