Connected Learning for Higher Education

Over the past several years, the Doctoral Program in Sustainability at Prescott College has been effectively using the components of Connected Learning to promote our student-driven focus. In particular, through Community-Based Experiential Learning (CBEL) projects that interweave the tenets of Connected Learning, we have found this pedagogical approach is particularly conducive for adult online learners who thrive when they are given the tools to align their highest interest with their academic pursuits. These CBEL projects support students in finding and building peer support and shared purpose within an openly networked forum. This session is designed to offer specific examples of successful CBELS and ways in which educators can weave this effective approach in their classroom. In addition, this session hopes to help expand the reach of Connected Learning to Higher Education.
